The Church Inn, Prestwich

My first post from a pub local to home. Why my partner Charlotte has not taken us to this fantastic pub before was hotly debated. A traditional family run pub tucked away behind Prestwich high street offered a number of real ales.
As we were only staying for one, the choice had to be good. We opted for a pint of the Aviator 4% from the Dent Brewery, Dentadale, Cumbria. Dent Brewery is seen as one of the more remote breweries in the UK producing a range of ale since 1990. Originally setup to keep the Sun Inn stocked with real ale, other local pubs were soon requesting Dent’s brews.
With a light brown colour, Aviator offered a strong citrus flavored brew with a bitter taste and hoppy throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed the Aviator, especially as we were able to site in the Church Inns notable beer garden thanks to the last gasp of the British summer.
Unable to stay for another as we were off to our favorite pizzeria Croma, the Church Inn we certainly be visited again to sample some more of their fine ales.
Rating ★★★★☆

I was born and bred in Prestwich, and hadn’t had the pleasure of The Church Inn until a few years ago. I agree it is a great pub, with some fine ales, and just as enjoyable in winter as it is in summer. I can’t claim to have tried many real ales, but here i always really enjoy a pint of Blond Witch. As the name suggests it’s light in colour, with a wheaty/fruity taste and i think it’s around 4.5% – very enjoyable.
